Our church has been an integral part of this community since 1822 as part of the Primitive Methodist Connexion. The Taylor family came to the Don Valley in 1834. The Sincklar (Sinclair) family came forward and donated the land on which the church now stands, and the Taylor family contributed financially to the building. To provide you with some history on how Don Mills United Church was built at the corner of Pape Avenue and O'Connor Drive, you need to know that as the population grew, there was a need for a larger church to meet the increasing needs of our community. At the union of the Methodist churches in 1889, the congregation remained Methodist and in 1925 joined the United Church of Canada. The Taylor's business empire in the Don Valley included paper mills, saw mills, grist mills in the Don Valley Pressed Brick Works which supplied the bricks for many of the homes and factories in Toronto.
